Real Wedding – Rebecca + John

Contiki Travel; the company infamous for its wild parties, picturesque destinations and of course, meeting fellow travelers. It was 2019 and Rebecca had the idea to go on a Contiki to New Zealand. As did John. Both departing from Melbourne, the pair had no idea of each other and no idea they’d soon be falling in love on the beautiful NZ South Island … while on Contiki. After this, dare we say, movie meet cute, the couple began
dating when returning to Melbourne. The rest is history, now signified with two rings.
The wedding of Rebecca and John was not just one event, but rather three separate ones, each a unique celebration of the different cultures in their families. The biggest event of the three, or as the couple refer to it as, The White Wedding Day, had its own touch of character. Instead of the classic, and almost expected flower girls, Rebecca and John chose ‘flower nans’ (grandmothers and great aunts proudly bearing responsibility) alongside surprise witnesses. With envelopes tucked beneath selected chairs, those chosen discovered their parts only moments before the ceremony.
The special two chosen, much to the couples’ delight, was Johns aunty who is also his godmother, and Rebecca’s aunt creating a beautiful full circle moment as Rebecca was her bridesmaid at 16 years old. Finally, Rebecca and John would like to thank
Karen from Potters Reception, where the wedding took place, or as they like to call her: their guardian angel.
