Hype Up The Booth
Nothing breaks the ice at a wedding quite like a photo booth. Take a fun backdrop and a few blushinducing props, and you’ll have friends and family laughing endlessly in no time. In an interview with René Hart, Liza Hoang and Harry Elder, the creators and directors of All The Hype, answer some of the questions many couples ask before locking in a photo booth company for their wedding, and explain how they deliver the perfect snapping experience.

Let’s face it, it can be a little awkward if not everyone knows each other at a wedding, but a photo booth is the perfect way to get conversation flowing and guests interacting with each other. It’s exciting to see a wedding party in full flow with everyone chatting and enjoying themselves, and a photo booth definitely provides that thrill!
From quirky venues and cosplay outfits replacing traditional garb, to choreographed group wedding dances, the game rules have changed in the wedding planning arena when it comes to keeping your guests entertained. All The Hype is a renowned photo booth hire company that has built a reputation throughout Victoria for providing a welcome alternative to the norm, with its personalised prints serving as a constant reminder of a marrying couple’s special day.
Here, Hoang and Elder chat to Melbourne Wedding & Bride about their beginnings in the industry, the joys of hiring an open-air photo booth, and how much fun these amazing contraptions can add to your wedding.
Tell us a little bit about your background and interests, and how long you’ve been in business.
“We have been in the photo booth business since the beginning of 2015 as a result of not being able to have one at our own wedding. The specific idea and image of the booths came to me in a dream one night, and I woke up the next morning thinking this would be an amazing idea! Two weeks later, All The Hype was born. All The Hype’s photo booths add love and laughter to any event, along with a little glam and décor.”
What type of photo booth wedding packages do you offer to couples, and what do they include?
“Our packages come in three-hour, four-hour and five-hour set up, and include the following:
- Free set up within 30km of Melbourne’s CBD
- A trained attendant
- Unlimited prints for the duration of the hire
- A trunk filled with props
- All photos available on a USB at the end of the night
- A keepsake album with glue and pens for guests to add their photos to throughout the night
- Your choice of booth and backdrop
- A custom-designed template to suit your wedding theme.”
What is the most popular style of photo booths?
“We specialise in open-air photo booths and we can accommodate up to 14 people in a shot, depending on the space provided. Our couples love the atmosphere created through the booth style and experience.”
Is an open-air photo booth better than an enclosed photo booth?
“Open booths are better because they are not restrictive and can cater for both intimate and large groups.”
How much space is required at a venue for a photo booth?
“Our booths require a space that measures a minimum of 1.8m wide and approximately 1.5m deep.”
How far in advance should couples book their photo booth? Why?
“If you fall in love with a particular photo booth, then book it as soon as you can to avoid disappointment. It adds so much fun to an event. We always have bookings up to 18 months in advance.”
How many people can you fit in a photo booth?
“Our booths can cater anywhere from one person to 14 people.”
Will the couple receive a copy of all the photos after the wedding?
“Yes, each couple receives a copy of all the photos after the wedding, which is included in the original booking cost.”
Will an experienced booth attendant be present for the duration of the wedding?
“We never leave our booths unattended. They are our pride and joy.”
How many copies of the photo will be printed off? Can this be altered?
“We usually get queues of up to 30 people and therefore we believe that simplicity is best. Our booths print out two strips; one for guests to take home and the other to be put into the keepsake album for the bride and groom. We also upload the photos digitally to our Facebook page the next day for guests to download, as well.”
Can couples customise their printouts, or are they created off a set template?
“We customise all templates to suit the wedding theme.”
Does the photo booth company organise on-the-day set up and pack up?
“We take care of everything!”
What sets you apart from other photo booth companies?
“Our point of difference is our original design. We designed and built these booths with our own hands, and there is nothing out there like them. The experience we offer is like no other; we become part of the family by the end of your event. We are fun, loud, and there to celebrate with you.”
Finally, what’s the most important piece of advice you would give to couples searching for their photo booth?
“Jump in and take a photo if you can. Look at the quality of the prints and experience, and if you loved it, your guests are sure to love it too.”
